Tampaksiring Palace
Tampaksiring Palace is a palace that was built after Indonesia's independence, which is located in the Village Tampaksiring, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency, Bali.
Tampaksiring name comes from two words in Bali, which is "visible" and "siring", which means each and slanting palms. It seems, according to a legend recorded on palm leaves Usana Bali, the name was derived from the former footprints of a king named Mayadenawa. King is clever and powerful, but unfortunately he is anger. He considers himself a god and ordered his people worship him. As a result of nature's Mayadenawa, Batara Indra was angry and sent his army. Mayadenawa ran into the forest. In order to lose track of his pursuers, he walked with tilt feet. That way he hopes his pursuers do not recognize the traces of her feet.
However, it can also be caught by his pursuers. Previously, he was with the rest of his spiritual power, succeeded in creating a poisonous spring caused many deaths his pursuers after they drank the water from these springs. God Indra created the spring and then another as an antidote to the poisonous water which was then named "Tirta Empul" ("holy water"). The forest area by walking through the King Mayadenawa tilting her feet were known by the name Tampaksiring.
This palace stood on the initiative of President Sukarno, who want a cool resting place hawanya far from the hustle of the city, suitable for the President of the Republic of Indonesia and their families as well as for state guests.
The architect is R.M. Soedarsono and this palace was built in stages. Tampaksiring Palace complex consists of four main buildings namely Wisma Merdeka area of 1200 m and 2000 m wide Yudhistira House and Function Room. Wisma Merdeka and Wisma Yudhistira is the first building that was built in 1957. At all the construction is completed in 1963 with the establishment of the Government House and the House of Bima.
